{"id":3192,"date":"2019-09-25T13:47:08","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T11:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alpujarraturistica.com\/municipios\/trevelez\/"},"modified":"2019-10-10T14:09:22","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T12:09:22","slug":"trevelez","status":"publish","type":"municipios","link":"https:\/\/www.alpujarraturistica.com\/en\/municipios\/trevelez\/","title":{"rendered":"Trev\u00e9lez"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cultura<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The municipality of Trev\u00e9lez\u2019s cultural heritage is reflected in its varied physical landscapes, folklore, delicious cuisine and popular <em>fiestas.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"creados-linea wp-block-heading\">Typical Cuisine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The municipality\u2019s most important dish is, with-out a doubt, <strong><em>truchas con jam\u00f3n<\/em><\/strong> (trout with ham), although <strong><em>sopa de ajo con jam\u00f3n,<\/em><\/strong> a soup made with stale bread, garlic, eggs, oil, <em>jam\u00f3n <\/em>and smoked paprika, is also very popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"creados-linea wp-block-heading\">History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The municipality\u2019s name comes from the Latin word velex, meaning \u201cvalley\u201d, and the 3<sup>rd<\/sup>-century ruins that have been found here mean that Trev\u00e9lez is definitely of Roman origin. Trev\u00e9lez as we know it today was shaped by the Moors. During the Conquest of the Kingdom of Granada, the Christian troops made it into the Alpujarra, but did not get as far as Trev\u00e9lez. When the Moors rebelled, many of them went into the mountains and became bandits, attacking the Christian troops. Towards the end of the 18<sup>th<\/sup> century, travellers and explorers began to come to the Sierra Nevada, and used Trev\u00e9lez as their base.
